10.31.07 | TRANSFIRST Appoints John Kirkpatrick as CIO
DALLAS (October 31, 2007) — TRANSFIRST, a leading provider of credit card processing services and payment enabling technologies, announced today the appointment of John Kirkpatrick as Chief Information Officer. Kirkpatrick will replace John Peterson, who is retiring after 12 years of leading TRANSFIRST's technology development and integration through multiple merger and acquisition (M&A) projects.
Kirkpatrick joins TRANSFIRST with more than 15 years of leadership experience working in large global companies, and 20 years of experience in Information Technology (IT). He served as Vice President, Global Strategic Planning for Sunrise Medical Inc., a global medical equipment company. At Sunrise Medical, Kirkpatrick was responsible for global IT operations, applications, business analysis, eCommerece, M&A system integration, governance and policies, and product support functions.
"John Kirkpatrick has an excellent reputation based on his experience in building strong teams and scalable platforms," said John Shlonsky, President and CEO of TRANSFIRST. "These skills directly align with our goals for growing our team, continuing to develop innovative products and aligning with companies that will enhance our transaction processing solutions. The fact that Kirkpatrick is endorsed by John Peterson, who help recruit him and will ensure a smooth transition, speaks to the benefits our TRANSFIRST internal and external partners can expect to receive."
"Recent activities such as the acquisition by Welsh Carson Anderson Stowe and knowing TRANSFIRST is poised for additional growth make it an exciting time to join the team," said Kirkpatrick. "My background in high volume transaction systems and experience in implementing secure global online products will provide a unique perspective for TRANSFIRST stakeholders and will help direct the IT team with future architecture and M&A endeavors."
Kirkpatrick has a Bachelor of Science degree in geophysical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. He pursued graduate studies in programming and development methodology at The University of Houston and completed additional coursework in computer design, math, and programming at Colorado State University. Kirkpatrick is involved in the Association of Information Technology Professionals, IEEE Computer Society, Rocky Mountain Information Management Association and Toastmasters International.
